March 1, 2021: MAP has transitioned to GSA MAS Schedule

In 2020, GSA decided to transition its schedule system to MAS (Multiple Award Schedule) that allows its “Customers can place orders throughout the phases of MAS Consolidation without interruption, including on Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs), as all current Schedule contracts remain in place”. May 1, 2020: NIST Gaithersburg Campus Master Plan receives APA’s Federal Planning Division’s Honor Award for Outstanding Federal Planning Project

A year after it was acknowledged by Preservation Maryland for Smart Growth Excellence, the American Planning Association (APA) Federal Planning Division recognized the NIST Gaithersburg Campus Master Plan received highest award in the Outstanding Federal Planning Project Category. This is a testament to the collaborative effort of NIST staff, particularly the Office of Facilities and Property Management (OFPM) and the Consultant team led by Metropolitan Architects & Planners, Inc. (MAP) and participated by Affiliated Engineers, ERG, Gorove/Slade, RC Goodwin & Associates, Rhodeside & Harwell, RMF Engineering.

April 5, 2019: NIST Gaithersburg Campus Master Plan receives Preservation Maryland’s Smart Growth Excellence Award

Every year Preservation Maryland celebrates May as the Preservation Month through the Best of Maryland Awards to “…recognize the people, projects, and places that exemplify and advance our statewide movement”. This year the NIST Gaithersburg Campus Master Plan won the inaugural Smart Growth Excellence Award. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) campus in Gaithersburg has one of the largest intact groupings of modernist buildings in Maryland and recently commissioned and approved a 20-year campus master plan by Metropolitan Architects and Planners and its stellar consultant team.
